What did we do?
Self Help Services (SHS) is a user-led mental health charity which provides services across the North West of England. We developed a bespoke e-training course for their e-therapy coordinators.
Why was it important?
The SHS e-therapy service is facilitated by a team of service coordinators and volunteer support workers who have completed the e-therapy programmes themselves. Although the e-therapy service is very successful, there was no opportunity for coordinators to receive further training, unlike other professionals working within the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme (e.g. Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners). We worked to address this issue.
How did we do it?
We developed a training package to provide standardised training to help develop the knowledge and skills of existing e-therapy coordinators. The course consisted of five days’ training over a 10 week period, to allow for learning and practise. Early feedback was excellent and, following on from this, SHS offers this training to people who are new to the role of e-therapy coordinator.
